Dersingham Cubs become "Super Heroes" for a weekend

A district Cub Camp was held at the North Wootton Rugby Club 18-20 June and Dersingham Cubs were delighted to be part of the fun along with 200 other Cubs from the Kings Lynn and Hunstanton district.  The Dersingham Cubs who took part were all around 9 years old and for some it was the first time away from home and they camped out for two full nights.

The theme for the weekend was “Super Heroes” and Cubs were asked to bring along a “Super Hero” costume to participate in heroic adventures.  The outfit was allowed to be that of a traditional super hero or an original idea dreamed up by the Cub themselves by being creative with items from home.  The “Super Heroes” donned their costumes on the Saturday to participate in all the games.

The weekend involved archery, gladiator combat, air rifles, crafts and more.  The Cubs also took part in a 2 hour hike on the Sunday before being made ready for collection by parents all nice and tired!  All Cubs attending the weekend were awarded an achievement badge for camping overnight.

Summer holiday activities planned for the Cubs are sailing and fishing.  Those that participate will gain an achievement badge for each activity and some useful life skills to boot.  Other upcoming events planned for the Cubs are visits to Dersingham Fire Station and Hunstanton Coastguard.

If your child would like to join Cubs then please contact Dersingham Cub Scout Leader, Mark Wright on 07791 299943.
