Accommodation and Places to Stay in West Norfolk
West Norfolk has a high proportion of quality accommodation. Whether you need a bed and breakfast, a quaint guesthouse, a 5 star hotel, a self-catering cottage, a caravan on the beach or a campsite, we have it all.
Bed and Breakfast and Hotels
Bed and breakfast at Twitchers Retreat (Snettisham) is second to none - especially for bird watchers - and is supported by a 4 Star Gold Award. The Rose and Crown in Snettisham, The King William (Sedgeford), The Hoste Arms (Burnham Market) and Bank House (Kings Lynn) offer the highest quality bed and breakfast accommodation with their own restaurants in house. The Best Western Le Strange Arms Hotel (Old Hunstanton), along with their own high quality restaurant, offers a wide range of bedroom styles, all en-suite, including twin, single, four poster room and suites, many having views of the sea.
In addition, the Best Western Knights Hill Hotel & Spa in King's Lynn has 79 individually styled bedrooms offering a range of accommodation from four poster rooms to garden rooms and courtyard rooms which are separate from the main hotel and have French windows leading onto a patio.
Heacham Manor Hotel (Heacham) is one of the area's newest hostels and offers luxurious accommodation together with an 18 hole golf course, a fine dining restaurant and a soon to be completed health spa.
The Victoria Hotel at Holkham and The Globe Inn at Wells-next-the-Sea are brilliant for that weekend away or seaside break. Both hotels are situated close to Holkham Hall and perfect for exploring the dramatic coastline of north Norfolk.
There are even specialist hotels such as Park House Hotel which offers exceptional facilities for people with disabilities or mobility impairments and can also offer care or assistance if required. As a point of interest Park House Hotel is where Princess Diana grew up as a child on the Sandringham Estate.
Camping & Caravanning
Searle's Leisure Resort is Hunstanton's largest camping and caravanning parks, with the most diverse facilities and a five star award from the East of England Tourism Board.
A truly unique holiday destination in the heart of West Norfolk is Bircham Windmill where there are 5 pitches for campers or caravans with electric hook up as well as a shower room and drying area (new for 2012 and should be available by mid June). Due to the space available at Bircham Windmill, campers can spread out and enjoy as much freedom as they desire. The children are free to play safely on the playground and mingle with the animals whilst the adults enjoy the summer evenings. Booking is essential, especially during the holidays. Campers and caravanners are also welcome to use the new games room facility.
Deepdale, where many backpackers lay their heads, in a tepee, tent or a hostel bed can have a unique camping holiday is a great choice for campers.
Self-Catering
Sowerbys offer numerous choices in self-catering accommodation. Bircham Windmill has a quaint Norfolk cottage for self-catering holiday makers to book.
Heacham Manor Hotel (Heacham) has a selection of self-catering cottages available on the estate. Booking a cottage gives you access to a great many facilities at neighbouring Searle's Leisure Resort, including golf, swimming pool, gym etc.
Bircham Windmill is a lovely family run attraction in the heart of West
Norfolk which has extended its accommodation facilities ready for 2012. It
is an idyllic situation, just a short drive from anywhere you want to be -
beach, shops, castles, Sandringham as well as beautiful walks from the door.
During the day Bircham Windmill is open as a tourist attraction, you can
wake up and buy fresh bread for your breakfast, or come home early to have a
cream tea just before closing time. After closing perfect peace is restored
as the mill rarely has passing traffic and only the owners live on site. The
best of both worlds rolled into one.
Bircham Windmill's self catering cottage sleeps 4 and is of 4* standard.
It adjoins the millers cottage and windmill and dates back to the late
1800's. Guests in the cottage enjoy free entry to the mill and gardens
throughout their stay, use of the Bircham Newton swimming pool in the
afternoons and can also enjoy the indoor games room. The games room is
brand new. It is above the new workshop building and has table tennis,
puzzles and games along with tea and coffee making facilities.
Another wonderfully special self-catering accommodation choice is the
on-site
Shepherds Hut which sleeps two and is very cosy. The Bircham Windmill's
Shepherds Hut is extremely well insulated - designed to be warm in winter,
cool in summer. There is a heater for those chilly evenings, a kettle, a
toaster and fridge, table and chairs and, of course, a sofa bed. It is
beautifully thought out and a delight to stay in. Shepherds Hut guests can
also enjoy the games room and use of the shower room and drying area. Well
behaved dogs are welcome in all Bircham Windmill accommodation and shepherds
hut and cottage guests will have a cream tea in their accommodation on
arrival as well as tea, coffee and milk.
