Pantomime season is in the air as the Christmas season draws nearer and we in West Norfolk are blessed – yes truly blessed – when it comes to pantomime. Luke Harris explains the subtle size adjustments up and down of the various golf clubs - photo by Stella Gooch

The final “Get into Golf” beginner lesson (28 September 2015) with coach, Ray Stocker, came with the added support of Luke Harris. The importance of repairing the green was highlighted during the lesson and Ray expertly demonstrated how to put the green back to its former glory following an indentation made by a golf ball. We also learned that both Ray and Luke had, over time, adapted their golf grips to suit their personal golf style.  In particular, Luke preferred to reverse the norm and grip with his right hand … Continue reading

Entertainment Norfolk!

Duet - John and Lucy Ray at Kings Lynn Corn Exchange - photo by Stella Gooch

A night out in West Norfolk theatre is a treat.  Yes I did mean West Norfolk theatre and not West End theatre! There is always a great line up in our local theatres but this past week there have been some particularly incredible shows to get out and see. Leo Sayer breezed in to Hunstanton on 15 September 2015 at the Princess Theatre and gave some of us a memorable trip down memory lane and a chance to catch up with Leo in 2015.  However, it was not long before another … Continue reading

Bad Golfing Habits – No!

Ray Stocker demos putting on an indoor putting green - photo by Stella Gooch

On Monday, 21 September 2015 I turned up for my third “Get into Golf” lesson, delighted that my back problem had disappeared over the course of the week.  I was also quietly pleased that I had retained my “grip to die for” as Ray would say and my stance was still good. However, to my surprise, I was informed by Ray’s assistant coach, Luke, that I had a bad habit.  It transpired that this had started in week two.  It seems I was compensating for my back pain and had begun dragging my right foot across … Continue reading

Mods & Rockers Event Fills the Green

Mods and Rockers attract a range of different bikes - photo by Stella Gooch

What a fantastic turn out for this year’s Mods n Rockers event.  The atmosphere on Hunstanton Green was once again throbbing with life and filled with people of all ages admiring the wide variety of bikes on show. Someone posted on social media ahead of their arrival: “More than 200 bikers heading your way.”  They were not exaggerating.  I could not say how many there were but a lot more than 200 for sure!  A friend of mine living out near Castle Acre felt a guess at 500 bikers was conservative … Continue reading

Leo Sayer – a name from the late 1970s without a doubt – caused a stir when he relaxed at Costa Coffee and visited local shops of 15 September 2015.  He casually chatted with passersby and showed interest in the small independent shops he dropped in to giving many a photo opportunity to happy shopowners. (If you had a photo with Leo at your local business then please send me a copy to add to this article – I would hate to miss anyone and I know he visited a … Continue reading
