Eboni and Her Amazing Chair

There are a number of GREAT FUN fundraising events lined up to help a local teenager this month!  (Scroll down the article for more info)

  • Sat, 22 Oct 2016 – 80s & 90s disco (at Heacham Public Hall)
  • Sun, 23 Oct 2016 – Family Fun Day (at Hunstanton Community Centre)

Local oranisations and residents are offering their support for this young teenager’s dream of independence.  Among the local groups showing support are Hunstanton Rock Choir and Hunstanton Rotary Club.

Young Eboni (aged 14) is a local teenager who was diagnosed at an early age with Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy- a heart defect unfortunately requiring a heart transplant in the future.  Further complications set in for Eboni when In 2012 she was diagnosed with Ataxia, a degenerative disease affecting balance and co-ordination.

Over the years, Eboni has lost a considerable amount of muscle in her legs and she also has Scoliosis in her spine forcing her into a wheelchair several years ago.  Today now she cannot hold her own weight without help.

Eboni has had to adjust both psychically and emotionally and has a continuous struggle with the emotional and mental constraints of her situation as she hates to use a wheelchair and wants to be like everyone else.  Eboni recently had a demo in a special chair (pictured on the left) and she went: “Wow how amazing”.  With this special chair, Eboni was able to get into so many positions, it helped her spine and she was able to stand up.  Eboni says: “This chair is amazing. For the first time in years I was the same height as my Mum.  We were eye to eye and it was so cool.”

“This chair gave me a sense of living, I felt happy, free and I knew if I could have this chair I could be very independent and be able to do what I wanted to do. I went to the beach in this chair and it’s the first time I have been there in years as my normal chair won’t get on the beach.”

This chair is costly and with all the extras will cost £25,000.  Please help Eboni to raise lots of money so she can have this amazing chair by click on her Go Fund Me Page

  • Eboni needs £20,000 for the chair with all the extras on it.
