Hunstanton Scout Hut now a great place to party

Well, its just over a year now since the work started to renovate our head quarters in York Avenue, Hunstanton – Phase One has now been completed and what a transformation! We now have central heating, double glazing, the walls have been treated for damp and then dry-lined. We have also installed new toilet facilities including a separate wheelchair friendly one.  The building has been re-wired and we have a new fully fitted kitchen along with cooker and microwave. Enigma machine comes to Smithdon High School

This article was kindly submitted by David & Canny Jones On Thursday 10th February one of the original Enigma code breaking machines came to Smithdon High School, in Hunstanton, accompanied by Dr James Grime – a research mathematician from Cambridge University.  During the day he explained to students how the machine worked and held workshops to allow students to test their own code breaking skills. Hunstanton has waited a long time for a new lifeboat and now, thanks to a campaign run by the Lynn News (started in August 2006!) with a target of £125,o00.  However, within just 16 months Lynn News readers smashed the target – raising £136,000 in total so we are soon to see the dream become reality. New operator announced for Hunstanton’s Princess Theatre

The future for the Princess Theatre is looking bright following last night’s decision by the Borough Council’s Cabinet to lease the venue to C & R Cinemas. Proposals for the operation and management of the venue were sought as a result of the council’s efforts to safeguard the future of the theatre, whilst reducing the cost to council taxpayers.
